My study areas include evolutionary biology, ecology, and biogeography. My research focuses on the study of ecological patterns and processes within an evolutionary context, as well as the study of anthropogenic impacts and global change on vulnerable systems such as islands. Using macroecological, observational and experimental approaches, I study the intrinsic mechanisms underlying the morphological and ecological evolution (such as diet) of birds on islands.  In addition, I have a special interest in studying the evolution of migration in birds over time, under global climate change; as well as the evolution of the loss of migratory behaviour after island colonization.
