Myriam Catalá Rodríguez
Myriam Catalá obtained her MSc in Biochemistry from the UCM in 1993. She obtained her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a thesis on cell biology applied to biomedicine. She has directed 3 doctoral theses and numerous graduate theses, published more than 50 articles in international journals and books, and holds 4 biotechnological patents. Her research has focused on oxidative balance during stress tolerance in animals, plants and lichenic symbioses. She is currently researching biomarkers for non-invasive biomedical and environmental diagnostics using near-infrared spectroscopy, aquaphotomics and artificial intelligence in collaboration with national and international specialists, with incursions into the study of human sexual biology and its evolution.
