I am a researcher in plant conservation biology, including ecological aspects, and focused on research on plant genetic resources of wild origin, with special interest in their genetic diversity of adaptive value, evolutionary processes and phenotypic plasticity. This research is approached from an ecogeographical perspective, which integrates ecological and geographical components to study adaptive genetic diversity. I have carried out this research in a methodological (cabinet work) and experimental way. One of my main objectives has always been the transfer of research results to society, with a special focus on food security. My research seeks to make progress in the knowledge of wild species of interest to agriculture, in their conservation and in facilitating their access and use, thus contributing to the adaptation to climate change of agrobiodiversity and, ultimately, of agriculture, which is seriously compromised in the current scenario of global change.
