I am a Professor of Botany and my main interests focus on the study of the structure, functioning and dynamics of epiphytic and terricolous lichen communities in response to different drivers of global change. In recent years I have focused on the study of the functional traits of lichens, their diversity and their role in environmental gradients and ecosystem functioning. In addition, I am particularly interested in deepening my knowledge of the interactions that lichens establish with other organisms, such as bryophytes and invertebrates. All these lines of research have been developed in different environments, from arid and semi-arid zones to temperate, Mediterranean or tropical forests.
