On May 26, 2025, a very interesting event entitled “Living Labs: Stable Collaborations to Increase the Impact of Science” took place in the Lecture Hall of Department II at the Móstoles Campus of the URJC. In this talk, Elisa Pizarro Carbonell, coordinator of the “Farmland Biodiversity for Rural Wellbeing Living Lab” in northern Cáceres (Extremadura) and an expert in the Living Lab methodology certified by ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs), the European network of Living Labs, presented the key points of this methodology.
According to ENoLL, Living Labs are defined as “user-centred, open innovation ecosystems based on a systematic user co-creation approach, integrating research and innovation processes in real-life communities and settings.”
This definition underlines the importance of engaging end-users as co-creators rather than passive recipients, ensuring that products, services, and policies developed within Living Labs are practical, relevant, and community driven.
Living Labs are booming as a methodology for transdisciplinary research that seeks practical, localized solutions to real-world problems in our society.
Thank you so much, Elisa, for sharing your knowledge on this subject with us! ![]()
