Purpose of processing personal data
The purpose for which URJC processes personal data will depend on each specific processing activity. The specific personal data processing activities carried out at the University, and their purposes, are detailed in the Record of Processing Activities, which is constantly updated.
For informational purposes, some of the purposes for which URJC processes personal data are highlighted below:
- Management and organization of university teaching and performance of related tasks and functions, as established by Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, on Universities, and the Statutes of the URJC, as established by Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System.
- Management of labor and professional relations with URJC staff, as well as the management of job applications and recruitment processes.
- Management of contracts, agreements, and other legal instruments that link the University with third parties.
- Management of applications for and implementation of internships for scholarship recipients in various categories, as determined by applicable regulations.
- Management of security and access control for the University building.
- Management of university extension activities.
- Management of the approval and processing of research projects and activities.
- Management of image data related to participation in events organized by the University.
Legal basis for data processing
URJC processes users’ personal data lawfully and transparently, in accordance with the legal bases established in Article 6 of the RGPD.
These bases, which will be duly explained to users in each case, are primarily:
- The satisfaction of the public interest in education and the provision of the corresponding public service by the University.
- Compliance with legal obligations.
The conclusion and execution of contracts and the fulfillment of pre-contractual obligations. - The consent of the data subjects.
- The legitimate interest pursued by the URJC in specific matters.
- The specific legal bases for each processing of personal data carried out at the University are detailed in the Record of Processing Activities, which is constantly updated.
Data retention
Personal data will be retained for the periods necessary to fulfill the intended purposes and, in all cases, in compliance with legal requirements, which are specified for each processing activity in the URJC’s Register of Processing Activities.
This is without prejudice to the blocking of said data when so required by law.
Communications of personal data
Personal data processed by the University may be transferred, among others, in the following cases:
- To the competent Public Administrations for educational management purposes.
- To financial institutions in relation to the management of payments and collections arising from interactions with staff, students, suppliers, and other interested parties.
- To the Social Security Administration, the Tax Administration, and the Courts.
- To external entities that carry out university outreach activities—cultural, sporting, and others—for the University.

Rights of interested parties
The data subject may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection with Rey Juan Carlos University.
To do so, they must submit a written request to Rey Juan Carlos University, C/Tulipán s/n, 28933, Móstoles – Madrid, at the University’s Registry Office, or through the URJC’s electronic office. They may also request information on exercising their rights from the Data Protection Officer at protecciondedatos@urjc.es.
To facilitate the exercise of their rights, the data subject may use the forms provided here.
Furthermore, the data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) if they believe their rights have not been adequately addressed. For this purpose, the data subject has access to the forms, means, and resources provided by the AEPD on its website.

The URJC applies the appropriate technical and organizational security measures to guarantee the level of security required by the risk that the processing may entail and has for this purpose an Information Security Policy.
