Humanity faces an unprecedented environmental crisis that can no longer be addressed in isolation. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution are increasingly impacting social stability, human well-being, and the functioning of our economy. In response to this challenge, the Global Change Research Institute IICG-URJC (sponsored by Ferrovial) invites you to participate in the 27th edition of the URJC Summer Courses, designed to bridge the gap between ecological knowledge and economic decision-making.

Cursos de verano

Why this course?

For decades, ecology and economics have progressed in parallel, often ignoring each other. However, scientific evidence demonstrates that our production systems are structurally dependent on nature. If ecosystems degrade, the economic foundations that support them also deteriorate. This course proposes a necessary dialogue between science, business, and government to translate scientific evidence into real action.

What you will learn?

The program follows a progressive and practical approach:

  • Ecological Diagnosis: We will analyze what is changing in ecosystems and its economic implications with experts from leading institutions such as CSIC, IICG, and BC3; they will address key issues such as the role of biodiversity, carbon sinks, and the biophysical limits of the economy.
  • Governance, Market, and Ecological Transition: We will explore tools for the ecological transition, green finance, and new European regulatory frameworks with top-level professionals from institutions such as Iberdrola, MITECO, the National Energy Club, the University of Salamanca, Mrs Greenfilm, Creando Redes, and the European Climate Foundation.
  • Practical Approach: The course culminates in a workshop on designing synergies between science, business, and government, where you will work on concrete proposals that integrate sustainability and economic viability.
  • Career Opportunities: We will analyze emerging profiles such as environmental consulting, green finance, natural capital analysis, ecological restoration, and ESG reporting.

Who is it for?

This is a shared learning space designed for:

  • Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students.
  • Professionals from the private and non-profit sectors.
  • Technical staff from public administration involved in environmental, climate, or territorial policies.
