Fernando Cortés Fossati

I am an animal ecologist, environmental scientist, and oceanographer, specializing in arthropods, ethology, biodiversity conservation, and scientific communication. My areas of interest focus on the study of arthropods from a behavioral and evolutionary perspective, as well as exploring the biology and distribution of species relevant to conservation. I am also dedicated to communicating this knowledge to the public by designing scientific outreach strategies tailored to a broad audience. Particularly, I am interested in the biology of toxic arthropods, such as spiders. Currently, with widow spiders as a model group, I am focusing on understanding the relationship between aggression and venom potency, as well as the influence of abiotic environmental variables on venom toxicity.
