Emma Barahona Martín
I am a molecular microbiologist and biotechnologist with expertise in the sustainable production of biofuels from biomass waste. My research is focused on the optimization of biohydrogen production through bacterial photofermentation, employing advanced strategies of metabolic and genetic engineering in Rhodobacter capsulatus to enhance key biochemical pathways. In parallel, I investigate the influence of physicochemical and operational parameters on microbial growth kinetics and bioenergy yield in photobioreactors. This integrative approach aims to develop efficient and scalable biotechnological platforms, contributing to the transition toward a circular bioeconomy through the valorization of organic waste into clean energy vectors.
