Elena Verdugo Torres

As a biologist with a deep interest in evolution, my predoctoral research focuses on tracing back the evolutionary history of a specific group of fungi, including its lichenicolous species. My thesis has a strong phylogenomic approach, which will help solve key phylogenetic hypotheses concerning specificity, parasitism, and coevolution in host-pathogen associations, alongside other life strategies within the Tremellomycetes.
