Dunja Lukić

I’m a postdoctoral researcher in aquatic ecology, currently based at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), where I work on a Biodiversa+ project exploring freshwater food webs. My background is in biology and ecology, with a PhD from the University of Vienna and research experience across Serbia, Spain, Austria, Belgium and Hungary. Over the years, I’ve studied plankton communities, invertebrate phylogeny, nutrient enrichment, metacommunity dynamics, and how environmental stressors shape biodiversity in freshwater systems. I particularly enjoy combining fieldwork with data analysis and working across different spatial and ecological scales. I’ve been lucky to collaborate with great international teams, lead field campaigns, and share my work through publications and conferences. I’m passionate about understanding how ecosystems respond to change—and how science can support their protection.
