Cayetano Gutiérrez Cánovas
I investigate the causes of biodiversity change and its consequences for ecosystems, biogeochemistry and human well-being. Specifically, I explore how the cumulative effects of multiple stressors impact freshwater biodiversity and functions in the context of global change. My ultimate goal is to identify safe abiotic and biotic levels that promote the long-term sustainability of freshwater ecosystems amid the climate and biodiversity crises. I coordinate IberRios, an LTER initiative aimed at exploring the impacts of global change on Iberian streams.
