From October 20th to 23rd, 2025, the second workshop funded by the “2nd Call Forward Thinking Actions IICG-URJC” took place. This workshop, entitled “C4 Photosynthesis in Cyperaceae Workshop,” was hosted by IICG researchers Tamara Villavede and Julia Quintana and featured the participation of 13 international researchers specializing in the subject. Also, other IICG researchers have been involved: María Sanz Arnal, Ana I. Morales Alonso and Ana I. García-Cervigón Morales.

The participants (below listed), who come from places as diverse and far as Australia, Canada, USA, UK, and Brazil, attended spent four days working hard toward a common goal at Rey Juan Carlos University.

This workshop, conceived as a space where researchers can step away from their daily routines and immerse themselves in focused, meaningful discussions, invited to reflect, share, and explore ideas about photosynthesis in Cyperaceae. Participants at all career stages worked together; as mentoring and collaboration are key to advancing scientific knowledge. Beyond the scientific sessions, they also enjoyed the unique charm of Aranjuez.

Thanks to all the participants for joining to this inspiring and productive meeting and to the excellent hosts who made possible to gather diverse and talented group of scientists to “think and talk science”. We certainly know that great results from hard work will come soon. Congrats!!!
