I am a biologist specialized in Botany. I am currently working on my PhD thesis at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, entitledExploring plant evolutionary radiations using the Gondwanan disjunction America-New Zealand in Carex (Cyperaceae)”. My research focuses on the taxonomy, systematics, and biogeography of the genus Carex, where I combine different molecular, morphometric and bioinformatic methodologies, with the aim of exploring the diversification mechanisms that explain the differences in biodiversity patterns in the genus. In this way, I study the dynamics of evolutionary radiations as a mechanism of biodiversity generation, the possible factors associated with them and their relationship with the colonization of new areas.
