I am a plant ecologist interested in understanding the response of forests and treeless ecosystems to global change. I use dendrochronology as a main tool to include a temporal perspective in ecological studies, although I complement it with functional approaches and ecological modeling. I also use quantitative wood anatomy to assess plant hydraulic adjustments to shifts in environmental conditions. I am focused on forest, semiarid and high mountain Mediterranean ecosystems, but I am also interested in cloud forests, temperate wet forests and tropical dry forests.
